The former fishing village of Isla Mujeres, (whose names translates to "Island of Women" lies just eight miles off the coast of Cancun. One of Mexico's "Magic Towns" Isla Mujeres is known for its relaxing atmosphere and white sand beaches, voted one of the top 10 beaches in the world! You won't find many private cars on this tiny island, although taxis and golf carts are plentiful making it easy to explore the beaches, natural parks and the small ruins of the temple of Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of love and also the moon, fertility and health.
